Meta Ads management

For the work people do not search for

Nobody googles “bifold doors” at 10pm on a Tuesday. But they will stop scrolling at a good before-and-after from a street they recognise. Facebook and Instagram create demand that search can only capture.

In short

Meta Ads management for UK trade and service businesses across Facebook and Instagram, built as three audience layers doing three different jobs rather than boosted posts. Meta works on demand you create rather than demand that already exists, which makes it a poor first channel for emergency trades and a strong one for considered, visual work.

When Meta is the right channel

Search advertising has a hard ceiling: you cannot sell to more people than are searching. In a town of 40,000, there may be only forty people a month searching for a new conservatory. Once you own those, more budget buys worse traffic.

Meta has no such ceiling, because you are not waiting for intent — you are creating it. That makes it right for:

  • Visual, discretionary work. Windows, doors, driveways, extensions, garden rooms, landscaping, resin surfacing.
  • Thin search markets. Rural coverage areas where search volume cannot fill a budget.
  • Retargeting. Bringing back the 95% of website visitors who looked and did not call. This is usually the best-value part of any Meta budget.
  • Seasonal pushes. Filling a quiet January when search demand collapses but people are sitting indoors making plans.

And when it is the wrong channel: emergency call-outs, commercial tender work, and anything where the buyer is a business rather than a householder. We will tell you that rather than take the fee.

What we actually build

A working Meta account for a trade firm has three layers, and skipping any of them is why boosted posts disappoint.

  • Cold. Local geographic targeting with interest and behavioural layers, showing genuine work. The job here is to be recognised, not to close.
  • Warm. Retargeting video viewers, page engagers and website visitors with proof — reviews, finished jobs, guarantees.
  • Hot. Direct-response to people who visited a quote or pricing page. Small audience, highest return, usually the cheapest enquiries in the account.

Real Meta account numbers

873 clicks → 134 conversions
at £2.30 average cost per click.

That is roughly a 15% click-to-conversion rate on cold social traffic — people who were not looking for the service when they saw the ad.

Meta Ads questions

Do Facebook ads actually work for trades?

For some trades, very well; for others, badly. They work when the work is visual and the decision is discretionary — new windows, driveways, extensions, garden rooms. They work poorly for genuine emergencies, because nobody scrolling Instagram has a leaking roof right now. If you only have budget for one channel and people search for what you do, start with Google.

How is this different from boosting a post?

Boosting optimises for engagement — likes and comments, which do not pay wages. A properly built campaign optimises for leads or conversions, uses your website's pixel data, excludes existing customers, and retargets people who visited and did not call. The difference in cost per enquiry is usually several multiples.

What creative do you need from me?

Photographs of your own work, ideally before-and-afters, and a short phone video of you talking about a job. Genuinely: phone footage of a real job outperforms polished stock imagery in this sector almost every time, because it is obviously real.

What about lead quality?

Meta lead forms produce cheap leads of variable quality, because someone can submit in two taps without much thought. We usually add qualifying questions and route to a call rather than a form, which raises cost per lead and raises quality far more.

Can you retarget people who visited my website?

Yes, and it is normally the highest-return part of a Meta budget. Most people who visit a trade website do not call on the first visit. Putting your work back in front of them for a few pence a view over the following month recovers a meaningful share of them.
