Web design
A website that is fast, findable and asks for the job
Most trade websites fail at one of three points: Google cannot read them, the visitor cannot find the answer they came for, or the page never actually asks for the call. We build to fix all three, and we wire in tracking so you can see which page produced which enquiry.

In short
Websites for UK trade and service businesses, built as server-rendered HTML so search engines and AI crawlers receive a finished page rather than an empty shell. A page per service, click to call and WhatsApp on every screen, tracking installed and verified, and the site owned outright by the client from the day it goes live.
Built server-rendered, on purpose
This is the most consequential technical decision in a small business website and almost nobody explains it, so here it is plainly.
Many modern website builders produce a client-side application. When Google's crawler requests the page it receives an essentially empty HTML file — often no title, no heading, no text — and the actual content only appears after a browser downloads and runs the JavaScript. Google will usually get there eventually, on a second rendering pass that can lag by days.
Two consequences. First, indexing becomes slow and patchy, especially for deeper pages. Second — and this is increasingly the expensive one — the crawlers behind AI search largely do not execute JavaScript. To them, a site like that simply has no content. As more buyers start their research by asking an AI assistant, that is a channel you are invisible in without knowing it.
Everything we build outputs complete HTML on the first request. Title, headings, copy, structured data, all present before a single line of JavaScript runs. It also happens to be considerably faster.
Structured around the two questions
Every trade website visitor is trying to answer two things: can they do my specific job, and roughly what will it cost. Sites that dodge both — and most do, hiding behind “contact us for a quote” — lose the visitor to whoever answers first.
So we structure pages to answer directly: the specific services, the areas covered, honest price ranges or at least a worked example, proof of similar completed jobs, and then a clear ask. Publishing indicative prices costs you a few enquiries from people who were never going to buy, and considerably raises the quality of the ones that arrive.
What every build includes
- Server-rendered HTML, not a JavaScript shell
- Core Web Vitals passing on mobile
- Unique title, description and H1 per page
- Structured data for your services and business
- Real 404 handling and a clean URL structure
- XML sitemap and robots.txt
- Click-to-call on every page, prominent on mobile
- Call and form tracking wired in from launch
- Google Analytics and Search Console connected
- Full ownership of every file
Three sizes of build
Essential. Five to eight pages. A sound, fast site for a firm that needs to look credible and take calls.
Search-led. Ten to twenty pages with service and area pages built to rank, plus CRM integration.
Multi-division. Larger sites, several trading divisions or locations, project galleries and custom quote tools.
Web design questions
How long does a website take?
Three to five weeks for a typical trade site, assuming photographs and content come back promptly. The delay is almost never the build — it is waiting for job photographs.
What is wrong with Wix, Squarespace or an AI site builder?
Some are fine. The specific problem worth knowing about is that many modern builders output a JavaScript application: the HTML Google receives first is an empty container, and the real content only appears once a browser runs the code. Google can handle that, but on a delayed second pass — and AI crawlers like GPTBot and PerplexityBot largely do not run JavaScript at all, so they see nothing. We build server-rendered pages where the content is in the HTML from the first byte.
Do I own the website?
Completely. Files, domain, hosting account, content. We will hand over everything if you ever want to move, without charge or argument.
Can you work with my existing website?
Often yes, and it is usually cheaper. If the foundation is sound we improve speed, structure, tracking and conversion rather than starting again. We will only recommend a rebuild when the platform itself is the problem.
Do I need a blog?
Only if you will use it. An abandoned blog with three posts from 2023 actively harms credibility. We would rather build five genuinely useful service pages than a blog nobody updates.
